I was inspired to try composing this print by using Photoshop and Publisher after seeing in June 2009 the ‘End of Second Year’ show of the new BA course in Illustration, led by Chris Glynn at Cardiff School of Art and Design.
It is a huge time-saver if one can vary the size and location of elements of a composition with a few mouse clicks, and print out the results for further work by hand. I had not yet seen any contemporary representations of force-feeding, so at first I imagined the victim lying down. Later, I saw illustrations which showed that a chair was used.
